Overview
Ellen Skaja
I began working at Hidden River Middle School in the Winter of 2018. I graduated from the University of MN - Duluth campus with a degree in Elementary Education and Mathematics, grades 5-8. I ran a before and after-school program for many years. Then I served in Children's Ministry for a large congregation. I'm excited that my journey has led me here!
I went back to school to obtain my Master's degree in Differentiated Instruction and a certificate in Trauma & Resilience from Concordia University right here in St. Paul. My goal is to create a welcoming environment for all scholars to have an entry point into the lesson. Our conversations and mathematical tasks lead students into exploration and sense-making. I hope to instill a growth mindset for mathematics!
When I'm not talking numbers, you can find me hanging out with my family. We like to explore, travel, swim, watch movies, and do crafts. We are a big National Park family and visit a new park every summer!
I look forward to partnering with you and your scholar for a successful year! Please reach out with any questions, comments, or concerns.
