Ms. Sonja Thorson (she/her)

This is my first year as a teacher at Hidden River Middle School, but I had the privilege of student and substitute teaching here last spring! I teach Reader’s and Writer’s Workshop (ELA 6) and have a foundations (homeroom) class of 6th graders.

I have an undergraduate degree from South Dakota State University and a Masters of Fine Arts (in theatre) degree from the Yale School of Drama. I obtained my teaching license through the College of St. Scholastica.

I have a dog (Hazel), an older brother (and a sister-in-law) and a younger sister (who is a journalist in Oregon). I spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I love reading, playing board games, playing card games, and spending time outside camping or hiking. I also volunteer at a community children’s theatre company in White Bear Lake.
